ODDICUS BOTKINS HOBB

Oddicus was first foray into using silicones. It was an interesting learning curve, but I discovered new building techniques that have amazing results. You can see ODDICUS IN ACTION here.
Animatronic Bear Suit pt.2
Along with the full body costume, a more refined FX cable controlled head was made for the "Vikingdom" movie. You can see some of my FX camera tests here.

This was a practical FX build with next to no budget at all for a "straight to bargain DVD bin" movie called "Vikingdom" . I was happy how this build turned out considering the time and budget constraints. Check out HOW I BUILT THIS here.

This little monster was created for a TV show pilot I was trying to launch. Kitchen Creatures featured a young monster learning easy healthy food recipes that kids could make themselves.
SPACE BUNNY STEVE

This odd character was an exercise in simply playing in the studio with materials. It was interesting to watch an idea evolve from a heap of fabrics into a unique character.
MR HOOTY

Created for a TV series pilot, Mr Hooty has expressive blinking eyes and an apron full of interesting gadgets.

RUSTY THE AUTOMATON

Rusty is part of my ongoing personal projects. He is essentially a large stop-frame style puppet that I've used in many photo projects.

This "Punch" style hand puppet is operated by one hand and has full facial animation.
BISCUIT

This little critter is my own take on a blue fish-eyed monster with a "biscuit" eating disorder.
PHILO McBEAN

I made Philo a long time ago and he's popped up in many of my projects over the years. He's pretty much a simple sock puppet with a few unusual features.

CRABBY McGEE

Created for an adult oriented TV series pilot "WACKY PALMS". It was a show about a cow who owned a hotel on an island in the Bermuda triangle. I'm sure the show was picked up for syndication in some alternate reality
ZOOMER

This was the lead character in Planet Bizzaro's TV series that was produced in Malaysia. I designed and built a large cast of aliens and critters for the project.
RAVEN

There is a running theme for me when it comes to being asked to make "realistic" animal puppets. There is always "too-little-time" and " too-little-budget" but somehow I manage to get these critters looking great for camera.
DENIS RACCOON

Another "make it look real with no budget or time" animal puppet. Initially this critter was designed to be a one-off joke for the "Wingin' It" TV series. Denis became a full blown character for the first season of the show.

This happy couple was a hit at a particularly whimsical wedding.

This full body puppet is part of an educational story telling stage show. He had giant googly eyes and is capable of eating large amounts of "stuff".

This tiny creature is part of one of my ongoing projects. His facial expressions are quite extraordinary due to the flexibility of modern silicone materials that I now enjoy working with.

This is a picture of this interesting goblin still in the making. He was primarily a test to use new silicone materials to achieve hyper-realistic anatomy.

This ventriloquist puppet has light up eyes and brain. His head and body work on a gimble mechanism from below. A trigger mechanism operates his mouth and eyebrows

This large scale rod puppet was built for an educational storytelling show. Along with his animated face, his eyes, arms and legs pop apart so audiences can help put him together.
ZOMBIE VAL

This is "patient zero" of the CREEPY PUPPET PROJECT. He started out at as an experiment in making 1/6th scale monster puppets. His creation inspired me to make short horror films featuring an all puppet cast.
